As far as I can tell, if we award a DHP and then create an overpayment of DHP – unless we manage to recover that DHP, we can claim the overpaid amount when we complete form DHP3A.
    Does anyone disagree with this?
My problem is – if the above is correct – why does our software system (Academy) not report DHPs like this?
Report HB7180 seems to show a net amount irrespective of whether we have recovered the O/P.
Can any Academy sites help with how they go about their reconciliations.
    Thanks

You can claim the amount paid in total including overpayments. Should the overpaid value be recovered the sum should be added into the current year’s budget in which you are working. Our software was also unable to cope as there was no link between HB and DHPs (most DHP o/ps caused by increased HB), nor were there any plans to remedy this either. I now control the DHP budget manually. Sorry this won’t help but you are not alone.

Can you let me know where it tell you that you can claim the amount paid in total including overpayments.

S5 2001 gives the claim procedure that the final claim should be submitted by 30 June following the end of the financial year providing details of the actual amounts of DHP’s made in that year.
