I am positive that once when I was looking for another piece of case-law I came across a Commissioner’s Decision, which stated that, they [the Commissioner] did not consider sums expended upon gambling to be a reasonable expense.

I was wondering whether someone could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks.

Thanks very much for this one, but it is not the one I saw.

In the one I saw, the Commissioner actually stated that they did not consider gambling to be a reasonable expense.

    Thanks again.

    Hmmm… [b:7338de2482]R(IS) 1/91[/b:7338de2482]?

The following may or may not be relevant – I’ve not checked them:

    CJSA/1425/2004
    R(H) 1/06
    R(IS) 14/93
    R(SB) 9/91
    R(SB) 38/85

    Thanks very much for these.

I’ll have a read through these.

Should I find what I’m looking for, I’ll post what decision it is.

Thanks for taking the time to do this.

It was in R(IS) 1/91, that the commissioner stated:
“…that reasonable and modest living expenditure including the cost of accommodation, meals and other incidentals to a reasonable quality of life (not including gambling for example) can be deducted in arriving at this figure…”

    Thanks.
