I’m looking for some information regarding the pay and grading structure of your Appeals teams. The areas that I am most interested are as follows:

The team structure and their duties.

The grade and salary of those that prepare submissions.

The grade and salary of those that present submissions.

A copy of/ or details of your job descriptions.

I appreciate that you wish wish to remain anonymous, so please feel free to IM me.

    Thanks in advance.

I don’t mind letting everyone know how underpaid I am 😆

After our job evaluation and department take over (er, sorry, merger) we are now called the Appeals and Adjudications team, we also process the rent to benefits reconciliations on a monthly bases, along with HBMS (whenever they appear again), various stat reports

The team has 6 benefit officers who have minimum of 10 years experience and they are on the grade NLC6 (16,185 to 18,783).

The leader (not allowed to be classsed as Team Leader – as they would need to pay me more money) is a grade NLC9 (21,861 to 26,424)

The officers make up basic appeal submission and I do the rest by way of ensuring the correct regs/case law has been applied and ensure that the cases going to appeal are ones that have the best chance of success. I also present the cases.

our webmarshal prevents me IM anyone, but if you want to drop me an email at I will email you our details.

    Ozzies Mate

Appeals team? Appeals person more like. One person, one salary scale range National SCP 21-26 I believe as it’s not me

Appeals Team in Fife = me and an assistant.

Assistant assesses entitlement to DHP and awards accordingly plus prepares section 1,2,3,4,5 of sub.

I prepare rest of submissions and present cases to tribunal.

I also prepare paperwork for ctax appeals and present cases to VAC.

    My post is on FC7 = £22,000-£28,000
    Assistant is FC5= £17,000-£19,000

If you need more info I an sure I could dig it up from somewhere. My post is interchangable with the team officers that are responsible for assessing council tax liability/awarding HB/processing change in circs/reviewing benefit claims each of which have teams of circa 10.

Whe’ve shown you ours Joanna, now you show yours. 😉
