I HAVE A HB CLAIM FROM SOMEONE WHO PART OWNS THE PROPERTY, SHE IS RENTING THROUGH A SHARED OWNERSHIP SCHEME. THE PROPERTY IS PART OF A BLOCK WHICH HAS COMMUNAL AREAS. THE SERVICES THAT ARE INCLUDED IN THE RENT ARE MANAGMENT, DAY TO DAY REPAIRS , CYCLICAL MAINTENANCE, GAS SERVICING, BUILDING INSURANCE. THESE SERVICES ARE NORMALLY ELIGIBLE FOR HOUSING BENEFIT BUT I JUST WANTED TO CHECK THAT THIS IS STILL THE CASE WHEN THE PROPERTY IS PART OWNED BY THE CLAIMANT?!? CAN ANYONE PLEASE ADVISE?

If they form part of her rent then I can see no reason why they are not eligible charges for HB.

We do a lot of shared ownership, and all our service charges, which are collectable along with the rent for the share of the property owned by us, are fully HB eligible.
