Hi,

Here in Fife we normally recover HB overpayments from ongoing awards of HB at the rate of £9.75pw.

Can you all give me details of your standard rates of recovery?

£9.75/w unless they as us to lower it, or there are the appropriate disregards in place which mean we can go higher. £9.75/w is the standard recovery rate as published in the uprating circular A27-2008:

£9.75 per week for standard HB overpayment plus 50% of any disregarded earned income

£12.80 for fraud overpayment plus 50% of any disregarded earned income.

If the customer requests a reduction in the recovery rate then would usually take the 50% off without expecting them to provide any proof of expenditure.

If they request a lower rate than the standard £9.75 or £12.80 then each case is looked at individually and an agreement reached depending on their financial circumstances
