Sub Tenant or Joint Tenant?

    Anyone fancy a late afternoon puzzle??

    Mr A rents a property 50/50 joint tenancy with Mr B. Mr B moves out and Mr C and Mr D move in. No change to tenancy agreement (which expired 2010 and isn't signed) but landlord is supposedly aware of new occupants although claimnat doesn't want us to contact them.

    Mr A is paying half the rent direct to his landlord (owner). Mr C is paying the other half directly to the owner (not Mr A) and Mr D is paying £420.00 per month to Mr A to cover all the bills that come out of his account by DD.

    Mr A has now claimed benefit (nil income).

    Any ideas how to establish eligible rent and treat Mr C and Mr D.
