In our area we have several caravan sites where we pay HB on site fees only. Most of them have a period where the residents have to vacate for a few weeks during the year.
As we treat them as being temporarily absent during this time, we do not pay them HB elsewhere.
We have now had an enquiry from a resident who needs to move off the site for longer than previous due to a change in the way the site operates. We have been asked if they can claim benefit for another property for this period. As it will not exceed the 13 week temp absence period, and they do not appear to fulfill the criteria for payment on 2 homes, I cannot see any way round it.
Any opinions folks?
