Our main RSL wants to set up some ‘assessment accommodation’ at 4 of their extra care scheme properties so that people who cannot cope at the present time at home, or who want to return home from hospital, can be assessed to see what extra help they will need.
They have asked if the tenants can get housing benefit on this accomodation as previously this sort of thing has been paid for by the Primary Care Trust. In addition they want to know if benefit can be paid on 2 homes while the tenants still have a liability to pay rent at their normal accomodation and if so for how long.
I don’t know if this is something new or why if the Primary Care Trust used to pay why they don’t now.
I can’t find any specific regulation this would come under. It doesn’t seem to be covered under 2 homes regulations, I suppose it could come under temporary absense if we only paid on their normal accomodation but I think they are looking for HB on both.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Based on the info given, two homes would not be payable.

The only provision for HB on two homes is [b:e41bfc3ebe]HBR 7(6)[/b:e41bfc3ebe].
