    Hi

I have a customer whose partner was admitted to a mental health establishment on the recommendation of her doctor. Whilst in care she married her partner, our claimant. The claimant has confirmed that this lady is his partner and they are still a couple.

He has claimed tax credits in joint names with her based on his earned income.

She has been in care for about 3 months and we dont know how long this will be for.

Job Centre have paid her income support as a single person because she is in care.

I am happy that she should be included on his claim as she is only temp absent but i am not sure that the correct decision has been made by job centre. We have contacted them and been told they are happy that she is a single clt for i/s.

Any advice on this situation? Thanks
