We have a claimant who owns a caravan who is claiming ground rent on a LA site. He has a large family. He has recently entered into an agreement to rent another caravan which has been placed on his existing plot and will be used for family members to sleep in. He now wishes to claim HB on on the rental of the new caravan.

Ground rent only as far as I’m aware. Would there be two ground rent charges?

Do I know what I'm doing? The jury's out on that........................

Sorry, yet more questions. Does he own one van and is the caravan he is renting being let to him by the site owners? Also, if the caravan he is renting is not let by the site owners, how do you intend to prove liability for rent? There is a Caravan Registration scheme known as CRIS and if you want the details of how to contact them I can get that for you.

Yeah he owns one of the vans.

We have a tenancy agreement for the second van showing that he is renting it from a LTD company but they are not the site owners!!!

You can pay on the rented caravan but before you do I would recommend documentation as to who owns the rented van and to whom the actual liability is to.

Heaven only knows how you’d set up the claim.

    CRIS tel no 01722 411430

    or cris.uk@hpi.co.uk
