Up-rating AIF’s where no credit is in payment

    Hi, I know this question has been asked before but i don’t think it got an answer, although i could be wrong. Where we receive an AIF, where PC is not in payment, will the pension service still up-date it every year? Cheers.

    As no-one else has attempted this I give it a try.

    Based on my (small) knowledge of the DWP I would think that if a customer did not qualify for Pension Credit then their claim would be considered dormant. As a result we would not receive an up-dated AIF unless the customer re-applied.

    Seems to me that if the person is not entitled to PenCred, they are under no obligation to keet the PenServ up to date with their circs/incomes. Therefore the figures cannot be relied upon as they could become inaccurate within days.

    Any “convenience” we get from using the “AIF” for nil entitlement cases is possibly outweighed by the hassle of uprating the incomes ourselves.

    Having said that, we are using the non-statutory AIFs ourselves – but aware that we may just be storing up problems for the future.

    Once the dust has settled following “A-Day” we are likely to start investigating customer’s income ourselves – rather that accepting the nil-entitlement AIF.
