Does anybody know how the uprating of CTC/WTC is going to work? I have read that the IR are reviewing their cases between April and July 2004. Have not noticed any guidance in any circulars so far. 😕

Have you been invited to one of the seminars that the IR are holding? These seminars are telling us about the renewal/end of year notice procedure. You need to contact the External Relations Team Admin Manager – Eileen Barnes or Amy Graham, Tel 01772 235527.
Basically notices are being to claimants between April & July, in 3 different batches. First ones are those claimants who are in receipt of WTC & CTC, WTC only, in receipt of JSA/IS. These people need to check their previous awards and reply to the IR. The second batch is those claimants who were in receipt of the family element of CTC, and they are going to automatically renewed, ie if the details on the notice are correct, then they do not need to reply to IR. Third batch are those people who have had more than 1 claim, and they are finalising the details.
You are right, in that we have had no circulars/guidance issued by the DWP, but as ever we are assured it is being issued soon!!

Thanks for the info Joanne 🙂 but people shouldn’t get their hopes up too much.

I have been in touch with Eileen and she points out that the seminar is not designed to answer technical questions about NTC uprating and HB/CTB.

Its to familiarise advisers and others with the process, the forms, the timings. They have no info about the kind of questions we are more likely to want to ask e.g. how to process new/uprated awards for HB, what happens to overpayments, how the provisional payments should be calc’d etc.
