When you receive claims from self-emoloyed people and the income declared is rediculously/unbelievably! low do any of you apply the minumum wage for the amounts of hours they state they work?

If so, what regulations do you back this up with?

    Many thanks 🙂

You can’t apply a minimum wage. The only option is to draw inferences about the likely level of income based on evidence that is available and taking into account any evidence you think has not been provided. Inferences must be reasonable so you will need to have a sensible basis for whatever decision is arrived at (e.g. lifestyle inconsistent? Surveillance info? Type of work?).
