We are in the process of implementing DIP & Workflow (Comino) and are unsure about whether or not there is still a need for us to have our benefit processors complete a keyer checklist that they sign to confirm all crosschecks are carried out.

I thought that as part of the VF we had to, but in light of the fact that we may no longer have a VF after April (not sure about that either), I am now confused!

    Any thoughts?

In my opinion (and I know there are some who disagree) –
VF hasn’t existed since last April (some would say there was never a legal basis for it at all) – so no , checklists are not required, but what is is that all relevant evidence is asked for, and to the level that you think is reasonable. All you are doing is completing a list to say you have the evidence, and placing it next to the evidence itself – in my opinion a waste of time and space (where are you now KT? 😉 ).
So, we trust our staff to ask for all relevant evidence, but do you?
We do use checklists with new staff as guidance as to what they should be asking for, but as soon as they can demonstrate their competence, the lists go. 8)
    Whoopee!!!

I too am a bit confused by exactly what “VF no longer exists” means.

In the past I’ve gone out and done VF training at offices where counter staff take in HB documents and forms on our behalf. I’ve another request to train a new member of staff at the Council Information Centre in the local library. Do I need to do any training with her?

Could someone point me in the direction of the DWP circular/guidance that tells us VF is no more?

    Ta.

Ah. The Security Manual. That explains why I haven’t seen it.

    Thanks.

Sue – although VF no longer exists we, for example, have still adopted the procedures out of it that make sense.
    For instance
    [list:0a4d784254]standards of evidence
training non-benefits staff on procedures and standards
    etc[/list:u:0a4d784254]
Although there ain’t no framework I did a similar session to that to which you refer on Wednesday. And nothing wrong with that 8)
