We are looking for two experienced Benefits Officers to help us maintain a quality Benefits service. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing excellent customer service in what can be a demanding and pressurised environment. A high standard of numeracy, literacy and accuracy is required.

The post holder will be part of a team responsible for all aspects of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support. As well as assessing entitlement consistently and accurately, you will be required to provide benefits advice and explanations in writing, face-to-face and over the telephone. Previous experience of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support is essential and experience using Capita’s Revenues and Benefits system would be an advantage.

Applicants who meet the essential criteria for the role will be invited to a face to face interview and competency test in week commencing 24th April 2023. Chelmsford City Council operates a hybrid working policy and successful applicants will be able to work from home, with minimal need to visit the office, after satisfying us regarding technical and system competence. Salary offered will be based on experience.

The successful applicant will be required to work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Salary range / grade: £25,239 to £27,717 per annum (dependent on experience).

Hours: Full Time Permanent
