External candidates applying for Grade 3 for this role must be a Rochdale Resident who lives within the municipal boundaries of the Borough of Rochdale
Do you enjoy working in a team and dealing with customers? We are looking to recruit a Council Tax Officer to join our team as soon as possible. You will deal with the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax.
The hours are 37 per week with normal working hours between 7am to 8pm (Monday to Friday). We operate a flexible working scheme which allows a degree of flexibility on your start and finish times, subject to the needs of the service.
The salary for this post is dependent upon experience:
- £21,575 to £21,968 (Grade 3, SCP 5 to 6)
- £22,369 to £24,054 (Grade 4, SCP 7 to 11)
- £24,496 to £26,845 (Grade 5, SCP 12 to 17)
You must have the ability to communicate in an effective and positive way, e.g. letter, e-mails for appointing at Grade 3, plus by telephone for appointing at Grades 4 or 5. You must have experience of working within a financial environment for appointing at Grade 3, or within a Revenues environment for appointing at Grades 4 or 5.
You will be self-motivated and after training be able to work with minimal supervision. You will be a strong team player, flexible, enthusiastic and able to work to deadlines whilst fulfilling quality and service standards. You will also have excellent ICT skills, with experience of working with IT applications e.g. Microsoft Office applications for appointing at Grade 3, and Revenues processing Systems e.g. Capita, Information@Work for appointing at Grades 4 or 5.
We will consider appointing at Grade 5 for a suitably experienced candidate who has a detailed knowledge, understanding and work experience of Council Tax legislation, processing and procedures.
In accordance with Section 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 this post requires the ability to converse at ease with the members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
