Debt Recovery Officer

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council

We are looking for an experienced Debt Recovery Officer to join our Revenues team.

The role will require the successful applicant to ensure that effective and efficient enforcement standards of Council Tax, Business Rates and Housing Benefit debt collection are maintained.

We are looking for someone with a working knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates regulations, or the collection of Housing Benefits Overpayments. A successful candidate will have experience of all aspects of recovery and debt management, gained by working in a recovery team in a Revenues environment.

You will need to be a good communicator, possess excellent organisational skills, be able to remain calm when working under pressure or to tight deadlines, have a flexible approach to keep up with changing priorities within the department and be committed to providing a high level of customer care.

Ideally you will have experience of using revenues software, preferably Academy systems, as well as experience of using a document management system. You must also possess a high level of MS Office skills especially with Excel spreadsheets.

You will benefit from 24 days annual leave + bank holidays (rising to 29 days + bank holidays after 5 years’ service) subsidised gym membership and car parking, payment of professional fees, entitlement to join the local government pension scheme, and non-contributory life assurance.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a professional and committed team and we look forward to receiving your application. For further details please contact Siobhan Gavigan, Revenues Manager sgavigan@epsom-ewell.gov.uk
