This is a critical role for the council, building on Manchester’s excellence in delivering resident and business focused customer services, revenue collection and targeted support for residents. We are looking for a strong leader who understands that the service they run affects the residents of Manchester directly and that each member of staff is an ambassador for the council.

This senior management role, part of our Corporate Services Team, provides strategic leadership and management of the Council’s Revenues and Benefits Service and Customer Service Organisation. Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive and City Treasurer, a full member of Corporate Services Leadership Team you will also deputise for the Deputy Chief Executive as required. A lead role in the Council’s transformation programme as well as managing all associated policies, discretionary areas and key links with other agencies including government agencies. The role reports to the Director of ICT in supporting the work to develop a consolidated digital and customer focused  organization.

You will be dynamic, creative, articulate and demonstrate strong values. You will have significant experience working as a Head of Service, ideally within a Revenue & Benefits or Customer Service environment. Unafraid of challenges, you will be able to bring people along with you to achieve our aspirations for Manchester residents.

You will possess extensive experience in the strategic leadership of a high performing, large scale, high volume, multi-channel technical, front office and back office functions. You will have successfully lead radical transformation of services through inception to delivery and have the ability to manage multiple complex projects within statutory, constitutional and value for money requirements. You will be required to remain abreast of all legislative changes and ensure these are embedded in a timely manner.
