Location: Canolfan Rheidol, Aberystwyth. (currently working from home applies)
We are looking to recruit a Housing Benefit Assessor to join our committed and friendly Housing Benefit & Financial Assessments Team on a full time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will deal with all aspects of the administration of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and Free School Meals claims. This includes maintaining accurate records, dealing with enquiries and providing advice and explanations to customers over the telephone as well as collaboration with other departments within the Authority and external key stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- To provide a quality service with a high level of care to our customers
- Accurate verification, assessment and award of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and Free School Meals claims
- Effective and efficient recovery of overpaid Housing Benefit
- Identifying potentially fraudulent claims and the referral of appropriate cases to the DWP Investigations Team
- Keeping up-to-date with changing legislation in order to correctly administer Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and Free School Meals claims
- Meet agreed performance and accuracy targets
We are looking to recruit an individual with:
- Excellent customer care and communication skills

- Good numeracy, accounting, literacy and IT skills
- Adaptable to change
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Understanding of General Data Protection Regulations and confidentiality
