Join part of an exciting team at the City of York Council as we’re expanding the service to meet demands.

We are looking for enthusiastic, outgoing and committed individuals to join our Income Team.

Four full-time Income Officer posts are available. The roles offer scope to really expand your knowledge and skills, with flexibility to be involved in all aspects of billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates. Dealing with customers through a variety of channels, including email, letter, telephone and occasionally face to face.

As a great communicator, you’ll enjoy dealing with and resolving customer enquiries in a polite and professional manner, in what can occasionally be challenging circumstances. You will be responsible for managing an allocated workload using your time effectively to ensure as a team collection for the council is maximised.

The successful candidates will be adaptable and be able to embrace change in a continually developing service, whilst being a good team player possessing a proven record of IT skills and high-quality customer service. 

Experience of Council Tax and/or Business Rates would be preferable, however, this is not essential as full virtual training would be provided until the successful candidates are comfortable to work alone.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the vast majority of our work can be done remotely, and that staff enjoy having the extra flexibility.

The roles are for Hybrid workers which are predominantly working from home, however, there would be an occasional requirement to attend the workplace depending on the service requirements.
