We are pleased to be recruiting a Housing Benefit Overpayment Recovery Officer to join our busy team.

We are currently in the process of moving offices, your temporary workplace will be Manby until the move in January 2023 to Horncastle

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Revenues and Benefits Service working in a “One Team” environment. As a Housing Benefit Overpayment Recovery Officer, you will support the prompt, efficient and accurate billing, collection and recovery of housing benefit overpayments and sundry debts for our company and client council’s.

This role gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to the wider community and the public services that are provided. It also allows you to widen your existing skills and helps you develop as an individual within our high performing service.

Typical duties:

  • Ensure customers receive any relief and reduction to which they are entitled and make suitable arrangements to settle their liabilities.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and determine the most appropriate action to maximise recovery.
  • Deal confidently with customers verbally (telephone or in person) and in writing, obtaining full payment, or making payment arrangements where appropriate.

What we need from you:

  • Experience in Revenues and Benefits service, or similar, environment
  • Competent in a range of IT applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience in dealing with customers in a professional manner ensuring that customer records are updated accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills, in writing and verbal; clear, open and effective

Salary range / grade: £19,520 - £22,830
