The Revenues & Benefits Shared Service between Basildon Borough Council and Brentwood Borough Council is the first and only shared Revenues & Benefits service in Essex, is managed entirely by Basildon Borough Council and is the largest in Essex.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and organised individual to be part of the Revenues and Benefits team. The main purpose of this post is to ensure the quality and accuracy of the administration of Council Tax, Housing Benefits and Local Council Tax Support/Reduction within the Revenues and Benefits Service.
The Quality and Appeals team are responsible for ensuring that proportionate quality checking is undertaken ensuring that decisions on Council Tax liability, exemptions, discounts, reliefs and Housing Benefit entitlement are accurate and are made in accordance with law and policy guidelines. The team also ensure that appeals from customers are properly considered, accurately prepared and professionally presented at the relevant tribunal when appropriate.
The post holder will work as part of the Quality & Appeals team, ensuring consistency of approach throughout the service, focussing on high levels of customer service, protecting the tax base, embracing new ways of working whilst providing excellence in customer service.
