Would you like to play a key role in ensuring finances are robustly monitored and we are effective in protecting the income of the Authority?

The Quality Assurance team consists of 5 Quality Assurance Officers plus a Principal QA Officer, who are all part of the wider Revenues and Customer Support Service.  We carry out quality assurance checks and undertake proactive measures, across all aspects of our work. This includes determining the entitlement and award of benefits, ensuring accuracy, identifying fraud and error, to maximise income to the authority and the reduction of loss to public funds. 

Usually based at York House, there is the flexibility to work from home or at any of our offices across the city. This is a full-time permanent post working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. However flexible working hours are in operation.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll carry out and record daily checks on a range of benefit operations, including defined pro-active checks on claims, prior to and after the payments and decisions on awards. On behalf of external agencies such as the DWP and external auditors, you’ll carry out checks in respect of the annual Housing Benefit subsidy claim audit, along with management checks in relation to the legitimacy of staff accesses to external systems. Working alongside staff and management within the revenues and customer services, you’ll ensure compliance with relevant legislation and to identify financial, subsidy and administrative errors against Regulations and agreed local policies and procedures.

What you’ll need

With extensive working knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation and other welfare benefits, you’ll have experience of the assessment of housing benefit claims. With a strong eye for detail, you’ll have experience of examining information of complex complicated cases and be able to confidently communicate your findings to variety of audiences. You’ll be analytical and methodical in your work, organised and be able to work under pressure to meet statutory and local timescales and deadlines.
