The role

We are looking for a quality officer with recent experience working in a benefits environment to work within our small Quality and Improvement Team. The successful candidate will help support the Senior Qualify and Improvement Officer with the benefits subsidy audit, quality checks within the Benefits processing team, identify training needs and help recognize any areas of concern.

The post holder will use data and prior year audit checks to improve services and ensure quality across the Financial Support service, as well as exploring new opportunities for service development.

Key requirements

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • High level of knowledge and understanding of relevant Housing Benefit legislation and regulations.
  • Understanding of Local Council Tax Support policies
  • Minimum 5 GCSE at Grades A-C or equivalent including Mathematics and English
  • Knowledge and experience of using Civica Open Revenues is desirable.

Skills & Experience

Knowledge  of relevant and up to date legislation and regulation in relation to Housing benefits and Council Tax Support.

Current working knowledge and experience of Housing Benefits, Council Tax Support and financial support processes, assessment and procedures

Experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel packages, and Electronic Document Management Systems

Ability to interrogate the Housing Benefit and Council Tax systems for the purpose of checking assessments.

Demonstrate an understanding of Housing Benefit subsidy.

Salary range / grade: Grade 5, £23,483 to £25,926 per annum

Hours: Full time – 37 Hours per week Permanent
