At PSPS, we deliver Revenues and Benefits services on behalf of our three Client Councils.

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious Revenues and Recovery Team Leader to join us.

Do you have: –

  • Extensive technical Business Rates knowledge, and
  • Experience at a senior level in the recovery and enforcement of local authority revenues streams of Council Tax, Business Rates, Sundry Debt and Housing Benefit Overpayment?

As our Revenues and Recovery Team Leader, you will manage and motivate your teams to deliver a timely and professional service, always with an eye on performance improvement and efficiency.  Maximising revenue collection and minimising loss and avoidance will be key objectives.

As a competent and inspiring manager, you will provide clear direction and support to your team, whilst often managing and prioritising competing workloads and demands.

As a leader in our organisation, you will work collaboratively as part of the Revenues and Benefits Management Team, contributing to the direction of the service and a ‘one team’ culture.

You must be able to communicate at all levels, interpreting and articulating often difficult and complex information and decisions.  This post will have direct engagement with Senior Client Council Officers and Elected Members.

 

Typical duties:

  • Day to day leadership, management and motivation of teams that specialise in Business Rate and local authority Debt Recovery and Enforcement.
  • Workload and resource planning, to ensure all statutory timescales are achieved.
  • Data and information analysis and providing technical and specialist advice and guidance.
  • Making decisions in complex cases.
  • Completion of Business Rates statutory returns, and other Revenues related returns.
  • Producing professional reports and information.
  • Dealing with difficult and challenging customers and situations, including complaint resolution.

What we need from you:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the law, legislation and best practice in Business Rates and in the recovery and enforcement of local authority debt.
  • Confident user of ICT systems, including Microsoft Office and Revenues and Benefits systems (Ideally experienced in the use of CapitaOne, and NEC DM).
  • Ability to draw conclusions from data and information and make decisions and recommendations in complex cases.
  • A sound understanding, and working knowledge, of Revenues statutory returns.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to problem solve and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills across a range of stakeholders.
  • Drive, ambition and enthusiasm
  • IRRV, or similar related professional qualification

Salary range / grade: Salary Range £32,658 - £37,370 per annum

Hours: Full Time - Permanent - 37 hours
