Who we are

Located in Northern Devon, we’re the Local Authority for the area of Torridge. We look after our residents and visitors providing a wide range of services. All this in an area of 984 square km with a population of 67,000, it’s no easy task but our team of around 270 employees are integral to supporting our local area and working hard to provide the best positive service for our customers.

Responsibilities of the role

The successful candidate will deal with all aspects of the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax. This will include responding to enquiries from the general public, the application of discounts, exemptions and recovery work which will include setting instalment arrangements, taking payments and overseeing enforcement action.

Requirements of the role

We pride ourselves on the excellent delivery of our service, therefore it is essential for the successful applicant to have experience of working with the general public and excellent communication and customer service skills, experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines, as well as being courteous, tactful and resilient and having the ability to absorb and apply the requirement of complex legislation.
