Revenues and Benefits Team Leader

The City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking to support the management of the Revenues and Benefits Service; recruiting a Revenues and Benefits Team Leader, who will ensure timely and effective administration of housing benefit, council tax support, council tax, business rates and BIDs, whilst maximising collection of income, maintenance of systems and development activities. They will be responsible for a team undertaking one or more of the functions within the service.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team committed to improving the delivery of services to our City’s residents and businesses.   This role will have a positive impact on the running of the Revenues and Benefits service, implementing business improvement projects to improve quality, increase efficiency and reduce costs.

The role has been identified as ‘flexible’ being predominantly home based with opportunities to work in the office when required to meet the needs of the service.

The Revenues and Benefits service provides vital statutory services to the Council in the assessment of Council Tax, Business Rates, Business Improvement Districts, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support and the collection of most income owing to the council.

The successful candidate will have worked and have practical experience at a senior level in a local taxation or benefits environment. A detailed working knowledge of the regulatory landscape for housing benefit, council tax or business rates is essential. They will be a team player whilst able to use initiative within delegated authority. They will be able evidence ongoing continual professional development.

Salary range / grade: £37,568 to £42,614
