We are offering a starting salary of £26,511 for this full-time, permanent position within our busy and friendly Revenues Team and we need a confident and capable person to join us.
Our team deals with collection of Council Tax, Business Rates and Housing Benefit Overpayments across Ipswich, Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils, which supports essential Council services. Ideally you will have some knowledge of Revenues legislation or a similar field, but full training will be provided. You will be working from home initially, with an expectation of home and office-based working in the coming months.
This is a varied role involving maintenance of customer accounts, dealing with customers on the phone and in writing, resolving queries and giving advice and guidance relating to legislation, policies and procedures. You will negotiate payment plans, liaise with enforcement agents and debt advice agencies to achieve the best outcome for both the customer and the Council.
You will need:
- 2 years’ qualitative experience and either 1 A level or 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English) or an NVQ level 3 in a related field
- Up to date knowledge of Revenues legislation or experience within a similar field
- Experience of billing and collecting debts
- Ability to organise, prioritise, analyse and work on your own initiative as well as part of the team
- Ability to approach work flexibly with a can-do attitude
- Good communication skills and a strong customer focus
Experience of using Revenues software systems is desirable but not essential

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.
