About the team we are recruiting to

As part of the revenues team (Business Rates), we are responsible for the collection of revenue which funds Council services. We update and adjust customer records to ensure the correct billing and collection of Business Rates.

What is the job role?

If you have a customer service background, are an effective communicator, have good computer, organised and enjoy helping people, this could be an ideal job for you!

As a Revenue Officer based within our Revenues and Benefits service, you would deal with a wide range of customer enquiries and you will often be a customer’s first point of contact during our office hours (Monday to Friday).

You will be dealing with customers over the phone, face-to-face, or by email so you will need to have excellent customer care skills, a clear and friendly telephone voice, good computer skills and be able to work well in a team.

You will update customers’ accounts to reflect changes in circumstances, award reliefs, discount’s and exemptions, and agree payment arrangements.

Who are we looking for?

To help improve our customer experiences further, we are looking for a proactive and service focused Revenues Officer to join our busy and fast paced team at One Friargate.

Don’t worry if you don’t have any experience in Revenues as when you start, you will take part in our in-house training and learn on the job from experienced staff. Training will usually cover service standards, system knowledge, company procedures and legislation.

So, if you are a customer focused professional, have organisation skills, and are an excellent communicator with IT skills, we would like to hear from you.

Salary range / grade: £19698 - £23080
