The Role

We are looking to recruit a Senior System Support and Policy officer to join our Systems and Policy Team.  The team is responsible for supporting the systems and delivering the policy of the revenues, benefits and customer services departments. 

Whilst the work areas for this role is broad, this position will be predominantly focused on Policy, ensuring the effective delivery of policies and procedures through training, guidance and quality assurance.  This includes responding to legislative changes, overseeing the production of procedures and guidance manuals, responsibility for writing and implementing a service training plan and assisting with the compilation, submission and audit of the Housing Benefit subsidy claim.

About You

You should have practical experience and knowledge of revenues and benefits legislation and administration with the ability to interpret new legislation, understand its impact on the service and translate it into guidance and training. 

You should also have knowledge of revenues and benefits IT systems to provide support, advice and training.

You will have highly developed communication and networking skills, enabling you to communicate effectively and develop working relationships with a wide range of people both internally and externally. 

You should be an enthusiastic team player with the ability to support and develop other team members and maintain a good team environment.  As the workload of the team is varied, you will be capable of working on your own initiative to plan, prioritise and organise your workload. 

About Us

This is an opportunity to join a busy Systems & Policy team which responds to the demands of the wider revenues and benefits service. We currently use a number of systems including Capita One Revenues and Benefits, Capita One Digital Portal, NEC SWS document management system (Information at Work) and Microsoft Office. 

The department provides the opportunity for a varied and interesting workload in a service that is continuously improving and evolving.  In this role you will have the chance to develop your skills, including attendance at relevant seminars and training events, and will be supported as a member of the Systems and Policy team.

Salary range / grade: Grade G, scp23 £28,227 to scp27 £31,894
