The Government has made late changes to the under occupancy rules due to start in April 2013.
The "Burnip" challenge to the Supreme Court has now been dropped by the DWP and LA's may now award an extra bedroom in all cases where they are satisfied that a child has a good reason for an extra bedroom. Bulletin U2 has been issued to clarify this.
The Government has also announced it will bring in new legislation to allow foster families and servicemen to be exempt from the new rules; amending legislation will be introduced shortly.
