Welfare Reform Bill delayed

The Department for Work and Pensions confirmed the Welfare Reform Bill will not now receive its second reading in the House of Lords on Tuesday as planned. It will now be debated after parliament returns from the summer recess on 5 September.

hbinfo note – it is unclear if this delay was forced by "other issues" that are dominating Parliament at the moment – a debate on cutting benefits may not have been welcomed by M.P.'s of all parties at this time.
