Advanced Under Occupation / Bedroom Tax in the Social Sector; from decision to appeal

This is an ADVANCED course and will include

• ·                     An overview including the numbers affected
• ·                     A study of the main regulations that will apply
• ·                     “What is a bedroom”, joint-tenants, exempt accommodation and other issues
• ·                     Exemptions and transitional arrangements
• ·                     Key issues that are being raised by affected claimants and their reps
• ·                     Rent Officer referral issues and “over occupation”
• ·                     Requests for information; “finding of fact” issues
• ·                     Appeals; construction of response/submissions
• ·                     Tribunal hearing
• ·                     Recent case-law on vulnerable claimants and its specific impact

The day is aimed at expert benefits staff; appeals, senior assessors and managers who are dealing with the numerous queries, requests for information and appeals from claimants and social landlords.

One of the main ideas is to help staff deal with appeal submissions at Tribunal.

Fee: £250 for HBINFO members. – £350 for non-HBINFO members,

The fee includes all refreshments, lunch and all training materials. Organisations are invoiced when the booking form is received.

All courses start at 09.15 for a PROMPT 9.30 start and we aim to conclude at 16.30

There is no charge for substitutions, although it would be appreciated if we were informed.
Cancellations within 14 days will incur a 50% charge
Cancellations within 7 days will incur 100% of the full fee.

Fees are due, PRIOR to training being delivered

All fees are plus VAT the current rate.
