The Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support appeals system
HBINFO is pleased to offer a training day on the basics of the appeals system.
Our training is designed to help delegates understand key legal aspects of the Housing Benefit system. We will always include plenty of exercises and real live case examples within the day. Learning should always be fun!
Our basic day is suitable for assessment and fraud officers and those new to appeals. The course looks at the appeals and review system up to and including presentation at Tribunal. It considers concepts such as evidence, fact and applying them to the law.
The programme will include;
Understanding the appeals system, who can appeal, out of time and misconceived appeals, fraud and appeals, caselaw, the role of a Presenting Officer, presenting at a Tribunal, codes of practice and many other relevant issues.
The idea of the day is to help staff understand the law and deal with complex matters ..including how to avoid costly and time consuming appeals.
We will also consider Council Tax reduction schemes and the plans to transfer Valuation Appeals to a new Lands Tribunal.
The day will include the latest legislation and case law updates on the Housing Benefit appeals system.
Fee: £225 for HBINFO members. – £275 for non-HBINFO members. Book three places, get a fourth place free (free places may be carried forward and used on any subsequent HBINFO training event within 6 months)
